A Place to Work. A Place to Belong.

Arise Café — A community café built on second chances, good food, and purpose.

    Back to Blog

At Arise Café, we believe great coffee and food can do more than nourish the body—they can help change lives. Every purchase supports workforce development, stability, and new beginnings for individuals rebuilding their futures.

Today, we're honored to introduce you to Andre Buck, one of our key team members and a powerful example of what opportunity can unlock.

    Meet Andre

After serving 12 years of incarceration, Andre knew that re-entry would be one of the hardest chapters of his life. Toward the end of his sentence, he was introduced to a faith-based reentry program called Jumpstart, which supports individuals transitioning back into the community. Through that program, Andre was connected with Allison Steele at Emerge Recovery & Trade Initiative and its workforce and housing support.

Without a halfway-house option and facing the challenge of managing housing, employment, and life responsibilities all at once, Andre knew he needed support—and a place willing to walk alongside him.

"This is even better than I ever imagined. People here aren't just doing a job—they're here to change lives with heart."

Andre found employment immediately through Arise Café, marking his first job. He describes feeling genuinely valued, supported throughout the week, and able to spend meaningful time with family on the weekends.

"I know how appreciated I am here."

Next month, Andre will begin trade school in plumbing, continuing his path toward long-term stability and growth.

"I feel so blessed to have this opportunity and to know the people here. I've made great friends, and I'm grateful beyond words."
