Celebrating Milestones! Celebrating Life!

Local couple turn their lives around at Emerge

Join us in congratulating two of our family members here in the Emerge ecosystem who celebrate a wonderful milestone this weekend.

Five Star Home Services Plumber Chris Wise and his wife, Shianna Wise of The Arise Cafe, celebrated two years of continuous sobriety on February 14.

Shianna Wise gave a powerful testimony at Thursday Night Recovery Live about how God has turned her life around since she surrendered and came to work on our campus.

She said her transformation is similar to the Parable of the Lost Sheep.

“God will always come for that one lost sheep – forsaking the other 99 for the one,” she said. “That was me. I was lost in addiction. There were times I should have probably died. But God saved me.”

Shianna discussed how she and Chris lost their children at one point and faced serious felony charges.

Their life today, she said, is a testament to the power of God, as everything has been restored.

“This Saturday, we celebrate two whole years clean,” she said. “I’m not going to say it was easy. This was one of the hardest things I’ve ever done. I started at Arise Cafe two years ago and there was a time when I did not want to be there. Today, however,

I love coming to work. I love that little cafe. God is truly amazing as long as you put in the work.”

Since its inception last summer, Thursday Night Recovery Live at Emerge has become a popular gathering place for community leaders and people in recovery on our campus in Xenia Township.

Spearheaded by Five Star Home Services staff members Chris Hunter and Mike Wise, along with Cassandra Kirkpatrick of

The Trades Institute — this event brings together more than a hundred members of the community each week for fellowship, praise, worship, free food and other types of fun.

This past Thursday, Five Star Plumbing Assistant Chris Wise and his wife, Shianna Wise, were the featured speakers.

“Thursday Night Recovery Live has grown into so much more than we could have ever imagined,” Kirkpatrick said.  “Chris and Shianna are just two examples of how chains have been broken. People have been getting baptized. Breakthroughs have happened. Community

support has been strong. We have multiple recovery facilities that attend, such as Woodhaven, Women’s Recovery Center of Ohio, Whole Truth Ministries, The Christopher House and more. We are building a network of saved people through this. In the future, I see God continuing to use this to help people who are lost.”

Join us in congratulating Chris and Shianna Wise on two years of continuous sobriety!!!
