“We are all linked together not ranked”
DAYTON — Having worked at the Oasis House in Dayton, Ohio, for many years and seen firsthand the devastation caused by drug and alcohol addiction — Rene Chase said she is extremely impressed by what she sees happening at Emerge Recovery & Trade Initiative, where lives are being transformed every day.
“I first heard about Emerge through social media,” she said. “I’ve been with Oasis House for eight years, working with victims and survivors of human trafficking.”
Chase said she doesn’t often hear many stories like that of Emerge, even with the many non profits and recovery organizations in the local area. With a proven model of success, Emerge treats the whole person and Chase said that is impressive.
“They aren’t trying to treat one part of the problem and then ship them off somewhere else,” she said.
Chase said Emerge gives her hope because she feels the system is broken. For people in recovery, daily tasks can be overwhelming and this can sometimes lead to relapse.
“Emerge treats every aspect of their lives,” she said. “Emerge grabbed my heart because you can feel the love the minute you walk in!”
Chase said she hopes to see Oasis House grow to that same point in the future.
“Oasis House has been around since 2005. It started on the Dixie Strip, which had 19 strip clubs when we opened. Then, the tornado came through and it closed a lot of those down.”
Oasis House offers hope and support to female survivors of sexual exploitation and trauma by promoting healing, restoration, and empowerment through Christ’s unconditional love, teaching practical life skills, and advocating through a transformational process.
Along with her husband, Jim Chase, the Clayton area couple said they both believe in second chances.
“We take for granted that we all have support systems,” Chase said.“Some people are out there on their own.”
Today, the couple own businesses in Brookville and in Springfield. Their electrical business, Chase Electric, is at 212 E. Westbrook Rd, Brookville, OH 45309. They also own C&C Outdoor Power Equipment, which has locations in Springfield and Brookville.
“I just want to encourage everyone to see how they can contribute to the success of Emerge, Chase said. “Obviously, funding is imperative but just as important is people willing to give of their time and talents to be a support system for people in recovery and stand next to them with absolutely no judgment and just love them where they are in their journey. We are all linked together, not ranked and what a blessing it is to share in someone’s recovery story and see their transformation.”
