Emmanuel Dsouza pronounced “Disoza”

I am a Family Nurse practitioner.  I will be taking care of medical and mental health needs of all clients at Emerge Recovery & Trade initiative.

Can you give us a brief description of your background?

I joined Emerge on June 3, 2024. I come with a clinical experience of 26 years as a nurse and 11 years a nurse practitioner. My experience has been mainly in non-profit community clinics,  mental health, urgent care and rheumatology.  I am married with 2 children, one in college pursuing Pharmacy and an 11 year old in 7th grade. My wife is a nurse diabetes educator.

Describe any professional designations and industry-related accomplishments.

I graduated with Masters as Family Nurse Practitioner from Xavier University in 2014

I am Board certified by the American Association of Nurse Practitioners and Ohio Board of nursing. I am also a member of the American society of addiction medicine .

What are a few personal details you would like to share?

I spend a lot of time with my daughter helping her practice volleyball and golf. I also like volunteering in the community when I can. I like reading and listening to audiobooks and reviewing medical material that helps me in practice.

I love training future medical providers such as physician’s assistants and nurse practitioners. We have to train and build our future workforce. We are to blame if we cannot find enough medical providers in future, because we did not help build it. So when you get a chance please train and precept.

What inspires you?

There are three things that inspire me: My family, my faith, and my country.

My family is always there to support and guide me in everything I do.

I’m inspired through my faith and guided to “Love thy neighbor”  and God’s command: “Whatever you do to the least of my brothers and sisters that you do unto me.”

America Inspires me every day. You can achieve anything if you have the grit, dreams and work ethics. Opportunities are everywhere, you just have to grab it and run with it.

My favorite Quote from Viktor Frankl. From the book “ man’s Search for Meaning”

“Don’t aim at success. The more you aim at it and make it a target, the more you are going to miss it. For success, like happiness, cannot be pursued; it must ensue, and it only does so as the unintended side effect of one’s personal dedication to a cause greater than oneself or as the by-product of one’s surrender to a person other than oneself.

What motivates you to do what you do here, and how you contribute to the mission?

We have an opportunity to save lives and build better families and communities. We may not be successful 100% of the time but we have to keep trying. I’m available for the medical and mental health needs of our clients and  to make Emerge the best organization for our region.

What resonates with you about Emerge? Why are you excited to join our team?

The community and faith based approach truly resonate with me. We are like Google or TESLA in the field of mental health and recovery for Xenia and the surrounding area. . We are the first employees and we get to build history  and make significant contributions to our community.
